Southern California, with its year-round climate, is an ideal location to live in or visit for a while. The city of Menifee and its surrounding areas offer beautifully sunny, hot summers. It also offers dry, mild winters. The landscape provides a view of deserts, mountains, lakes, and incredible greenery. Plus, it’s only an hour or two from Los Angeles and the coastal beaches of Orange County.

Sounds ideal, right? Just as the climate is welcoming, it is also welcoming to a host of pesky and dangerous pests. These pests can ruin your enjoyment of it.Moat offers cockroach control and wasp control.

The American Cockroach Control

Cockroaches are one of the most disgusting pests in your home. They are known to carry diseases, multiply quickly, and seem impossible to kill. The American Cockroach is one of the most common types in Southern California. It is reddish-brown in appearance. It has an unusual yellow-colored figure-eight pattern on the back of its head. They can grow to be over two inches in length.

There are several signs that you may have an American Cockroach infestation. American Cockroaches will leave small droppings with ridged sides. These droppings are often mistaken for rodent droppings. They will also lay eggs. Eggs are small and dark-colored. The eggs may be stuck to surfaces near food sources, behind appliances or under cabinets. Also, American Cockroaches emit a musty smell. The odor is due to a pheromone the produce, that sensitive noses can pick up.

Carpenter Bees

Carpenter Bees pose a severe threat to your property. They cause structural damage by repeatedly boring holes through wood for nesting purposes. Unlike other common bees, Carpenter Bees are not social. They do not build hives or nests outside buildings or in trees. They look similar to Bumblebees. They lack yellow markings on their abdomens.

A common sign of a Carpenter Bee infestation are round, smooth holes in any wooden structure. They particularly like soft, unpainted or worn wood. They will also attack structures like decks and fences.

Jumping Spiders

Unlike most spiders, jumping spiders are active during the day. They prefer bright, sunny days. They can rapidly move both sideways and backward and will pounce on their prey. When threatened, they can jump 20 times their body length.

Jumping Spiders are commonly mistaken for Black Widow Spiders. They have a compact black body shape. If you suspect a Jumping Spider infestation, we offers free inspection. We will identify the spider species and recommend a plan.

Mud Dauber Wasp Control

Female Mud Dauber Wasps construct their nests out of the mud. They are typically built in protected sites. Sites include under eaves and porch ceilings or in garages, sheds, and barns. Mud Dauber Wasps are not aggressive and unlikely to sting unless they are provoked. If their nests are left abandoned, more aggressive wasp species may take them over.

One of the easiest ways to prevent a Mud Dauber infestation is to keep building doors closed. You should also seal any cracks and holes. If abandoned nests are present, a licensed pest control professional should remove them.
